Kaito @kai

Cacao soylent has completely replaced a morning mocha for me.

I wonder what other successful, healthier vegan substitutions I could make?

(Successful as in, yes, I could eat a salad instead of pizza, but in practice, this will not keep me happy for long)

@masklayer umm yeah if a $39 box is too much of a commitment, I think they're being rolled out to 7 Eleven stores.

@kai I just make the powder for lunch. Well except during the holidays. I use it slowly enough though that I am thinking of switching to the bottles.

@Ghost the powder is certainly much more economical and sensible, but bottles have a major convenience factor, and when you're as lazy as I am…

plus I'm such a sucker for anything chocolate flavored.

If they had a decaf version of the coffee flavor, I'd get that one too. I don't want to get hooked on the caffeine though.

@kai How long have you been using it to replace your breakfast? How do you feel?

@arturovm I've never had a problem with it, though I'm sure that varies from person to person.

Since I tend to just eat junk food otherwise, I'm sure it's a step up, even if it's not the ideal of whole/natural/raw/whatever.

I really miss the food bars. They had incredible texture and flavor and were the only vegan meal replacement bars on the market.

@arturovm er, I just realized I never answered your first question 😅

I've had over 200 bottles of it this year, plus the food bars.

@kai No worries. Ah, that's quite a bit. Do you feel healthier? I want to know if, even if it's not perfect, the extra nutrients you didn't get otherwise make you feel better. Also, are you vegan?

@arturovm I don't really feel any different. At 200 calories, I'm only getting ~ 10% of my daily recommended nutrients from soylent. Lifting weights makes a much bigger difference in how I feel, and judging from past experience, avoiding carbs makes me feel more clear headed. I'm usually in a carb coma.

I wish to be vegan, but it's hard.

@arturovm er, I take that back; I can't read 😅 it's 200 bottles over the past two years.

In practice, about 1/2 bottle for breakfast, 4 business days per week.
